DS2655 FPGA Base Board

SCALEXIO I/O board with user-programmable FPGA

The DS2655 is used in a SCALEXIO hardware-in-the-loop simulator. It provides a user-programmable FPGA and has been designed for applications that require very fast, high-resolution signal processing. You can implement signal preprocessing algorithms or specific I/O interfaces on the DS2655 to optimize support for processor applications. You can also transfer simulation models and control algorithms that normally run on the processor to the FPGA, in part or as a whole.

Key Benefits

The DS2655 includes a powerful, freely programmable field-programmable gate array (FPGA), the Xilinx Kintex®-7 160T. To include I/O channels, you can connect up to five I/O modules to the board. Together with dSPACE electronic load modules and/or the XSG Electric Components Library, the DS2655 provides the fast reaction times required for simulating electrical machines in closed-loop operation with a controller. The SCALEXIO EMH Solution and the Electrical Power Systems Simulation Package are also based on the DS2655.

Programming the FPGA

Programs for the DS2655 FPGA Base Board's FPGA are programmed with Xilinx System Generator and the corresponding dSPACE Solutions like the RTI FPGA Programming Blockset and XSG-based solutions. The programs are downloaded to the FPGA via dSPACE ConfigurationDesk.
You can test the program in offline simulation before implementing it on the real-time hardware. This enables you to react flexibly to new requirements, such as new interfaces or having to accelerate the execution of submodels.

DS2655 I/O Modules

For expanding the I/O channels of the DS2655, two I/O modules are available: the DS2655M1 Multi-I/O Module and the DS2655M2 Digital I/O Module. They provide a high number of the digital and analog I/O channels needed for applications such as electric drives.
For the DS2655M1, there is also the DS5450 SC module, available as an add-on. It contains five switchable transformers for decoupling the five DAC channels of the DS2655M1 module from system ground.
