Better than a Human Driver – A Challenge for Test Processes and Tools

The presentation starts with the motivation for automated driving in the transport industry, followed by a short view on the legal situation regarding autonomous driving. Based on the architecture of an Automated Driving System, requirements regarding data collection and IT-Infrastructure as well as the need for scenario based testing are derived. The huge related amount of data leads to the need of virtual validation methods on the different testing levels and cloud based data processing. As a result Hardware in the Loop and vehicle testing will remain, but will take a back seat in the area of scenario based testing. The presentation ends with an overview of the tool chain used at MAN and an outlook regarding next steps.

Development and Validation of Battery Systems for Railway Applications

The Intilion GmbH, as a part of the Hoppecke Group, is a worldwide operating manufacturer and provider of energy storage solutions for stationary and mobile applications.
One field of activity is the development and validation of battery systems for railway applications. With a hardware in the loop test system by dSPACE, it is possible to simulate the battery and validate the hardware components. Furthermore, it is applied to the development and the testing of algorithms. The vehicles in the field provide in-use data in order to develop new approaches for predictive maintenance as well as to optimize operating strategies.

Power HIL - Game Changing Technology for Testing Motor Inverters

Electric powertrains and inverters are safety-critical components (ISO 26262) that require comprehensive, automated testing at the power level. These inverters can be tested without a real motor at full power using dSPACE Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems. Development and Validation of Smart Charging for Electric Vehicles

Electric mobility is expanding at a rapid pace. The eMobility industry has seen a plethora of legislative changes over the last couple of years. The development and validation of smart charging units continue to remain key challenge for the industry. In this session, we will discuss what are the key considerations while developing charging system, the challenges faced by the industry and solutions developed by KPIT and dSPACE to address them with focus on testing of smart charging units using dSPACE ecosystem.

How to Validate Grid Integration of Electric Vehicles

Vehicle-to-grid connection of the power network is an important topic for vehicle manufacturers. In this presentation, use cases and the resulting challenges for the development and validation of control systems connected to the power grid, like charging stations and on-board chargers, will be addressed, along with their counterpart components, such as electric vehicle communication controllers and battery management systems. A brief introduction of the relevant tools and the benefits of their usage to support the validation of grid integration of electric vehicles will be presented.
