BME Formula Racing Team

The BME Formula Racing Team was founded in 2007 by students of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The team currently has 70 members from the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Vehicle and Mechatronic Engineering as well as Business and Management.

The team’s goals are to win a formula student competition and eventually build a driverless race car that is faster than a human driver. Recently, the team competed in both FS East and FSG, and they are looking forward to the next season.

The team’s vehicle is a four-wheel-drive electric race car with custom electronics, their own accumulator, and a carbon fiber chassis. It uses a lidar and camera sensors to detect objects in its environment.

The team uses an Embedded PC as the main computer for the autonomous system, while a MicroAutoBox II serves as the control unit for the four traction motors and the actuators for the steering and braking systems.
