The TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH Driving Simulator

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) is actively preparing for their next races in a virtual world. The drivers are using a driving simulator at the team’s home base in Cologne. The TMG simulator was first created in 2007 and is a completely comprehensive tool.

Managed by the Research & Development department, it offers about 20 different race tracks, some available in various configurations, including the WEC tracks, the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, and the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. Several cars are also available: single-seaters such as F1 and GP2, as well as two Le Mans prototypes – one hybrid, the other not.

A Super GT car and several road cars from TOYOTA and Lexus can also be driven in this virtual world. A dSPACE hardware-in-the-loop simulator controls the behavior of the car, using the data generated on track and during wind tunnel or other tests at TMG. It includes five units that control the chassis, powertrain, control, simulation and system communication.
