Webinar Recording: Watchdogs are a Tester’s Best Friends

September 21, 2017

Are you ready to test critical scenarios for highly automated driving? In this webcast you will learn how to easily and effectively define watcher conditions to monitor and measure data in critical traffic scenarios based on dSPACE ASM and ModelDesk.

Instructors: Hartmut Jürgens, Product Manager Test Automation Tools, Rainer Rasche, Technical Group Manager Test Automation.

Target Group: Test engineers and test managers with focus on Automated Driving functions

Electronic control units for highly automated driving introduce a large number of safety critical functions – a challenge for testers. New validation methods are needed to increase testing efficiency and test detail.
A promising approach is the use of real-time observer routines acting as watchdogs that detect interesting or critical situations, such as unsafe operation during virtual test drives. Additionally, watchdogs can monitor if requirements are always met.

Whenever watchdogs detect events of interest, they can trigger measurements or initiate bookmarks that are added to data recordings. In postprocessing this valuable information supports efficient data analysis or leads directly to the passed/failed classification of a test run.

In this webinar you will learn how to:

  • Translate informal textual requirements into formal specifications to automatically generate requirement observers.
  • Freely implement observers to monitor interesting scenario events according to a given description.
  • Run observers on a dSPACE simulation platform.
  • Use observer results for test evaluation and corresponding postprocessing.
